5 Steps of Fire Damage Restoration

Step 1: Emergency Contact

The best fire damage restoration companies offer 24/7 emergency services. This is very crucial as this means they are able to come out quickly and provide immediate solutions to treat your property. It’s an important feature and you should always look for companies that offer this when trying to find fire damage restorations services.

Step 2: Evaluating The Property

A fire damage restoration company will evaluate the damage in your property. This will usually involve looking at different factors for example, how far the fire, smoke, and soot have traveled as well as walls that may have been affected.

Step 3: Sealing Surfaces

When the fire damage restoration begins, the main priority will always be to prevent the damage from getting worse. For example, if you have a leak due to a hole burned in your roof, then the fire damage restoration company will start addressing that leak.

Step 4: Cleaning Up

Next, the fire damage restoration company will begin the clean up part of the service. This process allows them to clean away smoke, dust, and soot from your surfaces. The first job of your fire damage restoration company will be to clean up all the dark, stained and charred residue from the fire.

This is also when water damage restoration will begin. During this process any pools of water will be removed using submersible pumps and the areas will be dried and sanitized. Water damage can also cause health problems due to contamination in the water.

Lastly, they will start to inspect furniture. During the inspection they check to see what can be replaced/repairable. For example if during this process there was furniture that was badly burned the best case is to throw these out and replace with new items. Fire damage restoration companies handle this for you.

Step 5: Repair and Renovation

The next step is to begin restoring furniture and repairing the damage caused by the fire. For example, any cabinets that have been destroyed by the fire will need to be repaired and replaced. The entire process of the repairing is to ensure your home is looking better than it did from the start.

Thank you Joseph!

Thanks for these tips regarding fire damage. I actually didn’t know that you need to first figure out if there’s a leak to prevent more damage. I’m interested to learn how a leak can be spotted, depending on what the fire damage is.

Thank you! Give us a call if you need any more information.

I liked your first tip to contact emergency personnel. My home recently caught on fire and that was the first thing we needed to do. I will be sure to always remember that.

Thanks for sharing great tips. Very helpful information.

I really liked your tip to contact a fire damage restoration company to evaluate your property after emergency crews put out the fire. Last week my sister was making fried chicken when the oil caught fire in her home. The fire completely burned her kitchen and two bedrooms. They put out the fire, but she doesn’t know what to do next. I will be sure to call her and give her a few restoration company’s phone numbers so she can take the next step to restore her home.

My oven caught fire about an hour ago, and while my son and I have been working to try and clean up the damage, we think we may need a professional service to help. It’s good to know that the best companies offer 24/7 emergency services, and while ours isn’t so much an emergency at this point, that is definitely a good thing to look out for in the companies we check to make sure we get someone who we can call again later in the event of an emergency. There’s a large section of the kitchen wall that is severely burnt now, along with sections of my cabinet set, so it’s good to know that a service will be able to remove all of that dark and stained material.

I wanted to thank you for helping me learn more about fire damage restoration. It’s good to know that it’s important to prevent the damage from getting worse by trying to seal the surfaces. I’m kind of interested to learn what methods are use especially if it could depend on what kind of damage is present.
